Cultural Geography

Today in class we started talking about cultures.  We learned about cultural geography.  Cultural geography has many characteristics that make it up.  A characteristic is that groups of people teach each other things.  Ideas and customs spread and are learned very fast when a group is together.  The members and people just spread them and teach each other about the ideas and customs.  These themes can either join a group together or divide them a part.  Also people in different groups teach each other languages.  Languages are one of the basic customs of a group because it is an easy sign of where they come from.  The Spanish language unites the Hispanic world.  Although, in Brazil they are the only South American country that does not speak Spanish.  Their main language is Portuguese.  Some people also speak different languages, it depends on where in Brazil you are.  Does this mean that Brazil is split depending on what language you speak? No, not at all, they just speak different languages and in different ways because they all came from different families that all believe and want certain things for their children.  English is considered the international language.  It is the main language used for international business transactions.  All over the world people speak different languages.  This doesn't make people in the same country speaking different languages distanced from each other.  We all were raised differently and chosen to speak different languages.  All of us have different views for different things and we still come together and can enjoy the company of people we didn't necessarily grow up around.
